topic S32K312 Mini-EVB - Unable to enter debug mode, GDB Server connection failure in S32K

Problem Description:

The S32K312 Mini-EVB was previously debugging correctly, but now it fails to enter debug mode. The GDB Server is
unable to establish a connection to the target processor.

Error Message:
"Launching PortSciNet Debug_FLASH has encountered a problem - Error in services launch sequence"

"The GDB Server was not able to establish a connection to the target processor. Please check your connections and
power, verify that the launch configuration settings including the Debug Configuration are accurate."

---
Troubleshooting Steps Already Attempted:

1. Checked PEmicro Connection Assistant:
- Board is detected: Multilink Universal Rev A on USB1
- Selected "Auto" connection speed
- Enabled "Delay after Reset and before communicating to target"
- Build completes successfully with 0 errors, 0 warnings

2. Attempted Firmware Update using Universal Multilink Firmware Update Utility (v9.90.00.00):
- Hardware Type: Multilink Universal - Low cost Debug Interface
- Device: Multilink Universal Rev C (PEM647663) (ARM Configuration)
- Architecture: ARM
- Firmware File: usbmlfsufarmens.1152 (Automatic selection)
- Result: Last Result = Success (Firmware update completed successfully)

3. Used PEmicro JTAG/ARM Recovery Utility (within S32DS):
- Detected interface hardware with old firmware:
- Required Firmware: 200.240
- Original Firmware: 7.95
- Update Firmware: 9.10
- Existing INCT Firmware "option" block...
- Result: Flash Erase Failed, Result > 5000: Firmware update failed. Retry?

4. Used P&E Kinetis Recovery Utility (v0.02):
- Interface Libraries Version: 1.06.00.00
- Detected: USB1: Multilink Universal Rev C (PEM647663)
- Communication: SWD
- Cable Version: 341
- Status: "Continuously attempting to halt processor. Please try power cycling your board until this operation is
successful"
- Power cycling the board did not resolve the issue

---
Observations:

- The debugger hardware (Multilink Universal) is detected by the PC
- Build process completes without errors
- Firmware update via P&E Utility shows "Success" but the recovery utility shows firmware mismatch (Required:
200.240 vs Original: 7.95)
- The processor cannot be halted even after multiple power cycles
- The board was working correctly before this issue started

---
Questions:

1. Why is the Kinetis Recovery Utility unable to halt the processor despite successful firmware updates?
2. Is there a specific sequence to recover the S32K312 MCU when it's in this state?
3. Could there be a firmware version conflict between the Multilink debugger and S32K312 target?
4. Are there any additional recovery procedures or tools recommended for this situation?
