Hello,

While analyzing the documentation that comes with NXP RTD libraries I noticed that the information provided in the User Manual was accompanied by pictures of the EB Tresos tool, and not the NXP S32 Design Studio tool.

For example, this is the image that accompanies the ADC peripheral documentation:

It is similar for other peripherals in the microcontroller.

Is there a version of the documentation that covers NXP S32 Design Studio Components / Peripherals / Clock etc, in as much detail as the EB Tresos?

I am primarily interested in code generation through the NXP S32 Design Studio tool, and would like to learn about its full capabilities.

Thank you.

Hi @Djuric

Currently, there is no dedicated document specifically for S32 ConfigTools. However, some of the Driver User Manuals included in the most recent S32K3 RTD releases already contain configuration screenshots for both EB Tresos and S32DS ConfigTools.

Please note that, for MCAL drivers, the configuration workflow in EB Tresos and S32DS is very similar. Therefore, even if a specific ConfigTools screenshot is not available, you can rely on the similarities between both tools to guide your setup.

In general, for a better understanding of each driver and its configuration (whether IP drivers or MCAL drivers) we strongly recommend reviewing the example projects provided within the RTDs and also the example available in the S32K Knowledge Base. These examples are the most practical reference and demonstrate how the drivers should be configured.

Thanks for the answer.
The tools are similar but not the same, it would be very useful to have documentation covering the native NXP S32 Design Studio tool. Also the latest versions of the RTD libraries do not provide examples.

There is also reference code such as OTA K344 that relies on very outdated RTD libraries.
Is there any chance that the reference code will be updated to the latest versions of RTD libraries?

Hi @Djuric

Thank you for your feedback.

Regarding the examples, we apologize for the inconvenience. We have been informed that an upcoming release planned for this month is expected to include example code. Please note that this timeline is tentative and may be subject to change.

Lastly, both OTA demos (the one for S32K344 and the one for S32K396) are the only versions currently available. These are provided as reference software, and it is up to users to migrate them to other derivatives or to newer RTD packages if needed.

Additionally, we offer the following OTA trainings:

Automotive Security and Over-the-Air (OTA) solution with S32K3 MCU

Automotive MCU Security and OTA Solution with Cost-Optimized S32K1xx and S32K3xx Automotive MCUs
