Which software development kit (SDK) is recommended for developing firmware that meets ASIL-B standards on the FS32K144HAT0MMHT microcontroller? Additionally, what specific firmware design practices, safety mechanisms, and implementation guidelines should be followed to ensure full ASIL-B compliance?

Hi @ARIVALAGAN,

The SDK has not been developed in compliance to ISO26262, but with a Quality Managed Process instead.

You can refer to the Real-Time Drivers (RTD). They target AUTOSAR applications and have full ISO 26262 compliance.

Regarding the design practices, mechanisms, implementations, etc. please keep in mind that these considerations are fully up to the customer, and the safety standards which needs to be met by the project, since the ASIL grade is for the whole ECU system. RTD and S32K1 both are designed as Safety Element out of Context (SEooC) integrated to ASIL applications up to level B (S32K3 + RTD up to ASIL D). So, RTDs being a software meant to be integrated to the application, the ASIL level depends on the integration environment and assumptions of use are part of the safety manual available in safety package.

Thanks for the reply. The NXP website mentions that the S32K144 supports some SCST libraries. What is the purpose of these libraries, and how can we test them?

Hi @ARIVALAGAN,

The SCST is ISO 26262 Functional Safety compliant up to ASIL B and targets 90% diagnostic coverage (DC).

The included tests cover most of the core instructions, as well as the tests targeting specific IP blocks of the core. Mainly:

Core control logic (branch control, exception control)
Core data path including:
- Register file and register multiplexing.
- ALU, Multiplier, Load/Store, and other execution units.
- Instruction decoder, 16-Bit, 32-Bit.
- SIMD logic

Keep in mind that this is a licensed premium software. Please contact your local NXP sales office for details about the pricing and ordering. The package includes the user manual documentation.

2. Yes. SPD is standard software free of charge, included in the silicon price: SW32K1-SPD-D. Please notice that SPD requires specific RTD package. It’s mentioned in the release notes file.
