Help with Simulink MBDT ↔ S32DS Integration (SDK / RTD / CT Compatibility Issues)

Hello everyone,

I’m working on integrating Simulink with NXP S32 Design Studio (S32DS) using the Model-Based Design Toolbox (MBDT 1.6.0), and I’m struggling with version compatibility.

Here’s my situation:

AMMCLIB / SDK confusion: S32DS installs AMMCLIB with RTD 6.0 by default, but MBDT 1.6.0 seems to expect different SDK or RTD versions.
RTD downgrade: I was able to downgrade RTD versions and already tried it, but I don’t know how the same can be done for Configuration Tools (CT). CT in S32DS seems newer than what MBDT was designed for.
Mismatches: Because of these differences (SDK / RTD / CT), I can build projects only sometimes. For example, I once got it working, but after edits in Simulink and SDK setup, the build broke again due to version mismatches.

My main questions:

Which SDK / RTD / CT / Toolchain / S32DS versions are actually compatible with MBDT 1.6.0?
Is there a way to downgrade Configuration Tools (CT) inside S32DS, like I can for RTD?
Do I need to apply any special setup on the Simulink side (toolchain/compiler settings) or S32DS side (plugins, CT configuration, etc.) for a stable workflow?
Is there an official setup guide for this integration?

Any advice from someone who’s managed this setup would be very helpful.

Model-Based Design Toolbox for S32K3 (v1.6.0) integrates RTD version 5.0.0, which was developed and tested using S32 Design Studio (S32DS) version 5.0.0. However, based on my experience, it also works without issues in S32DS version 3.6.

For guidance on tool setup and getting started, I recommend referring to the Model-Based Design Toolbox S32K3 Series Quick Start Guide and the Release Notes. These documents are available on the same page where you downloaded the MATLAB .mltbx file.
