Hi,
when working with the S32k118Q048 EVB board, I can not debug my application code. It always give me an error when trying to connect to the board. I am running the Dio_example to test the EVB but the connection is not working. I have also used the Kinetics recovery tool to halt the processor, but still the error presists. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi @yousefdessouki123

Could you please verify the following:

Ensure that the jumpers are correctly set as described in the S32K118EVB Evaluation Board – Quick Start Guide.

Confirm that the board is properly powered.

Have you made any changes to the debug configurations in the project? If so, please try reverting to the default configuration and test again.

Check if your computer is detecting the board when connected via USB.

If you are using OpenSDA to flash the MCU, please verify that the micro USB cable is a data cable, not a charge-only cable.

If you are using an external debugger, try switching to a different one or use OpenSDA as an alternative.

Hi @VaneB

I hope everything is going well. I have double checked all the proposed steps. I have uninstalled design studio and reinstalled. I have checked all jumpers on the EVB and made sure that I use data cable. I have tried using J link debugger to find the source of the issue but the board is not even connecting to it. for the debuggers I am using a direct connection using cortex M0 header pinout connceted directly on the Opensda pinout on the evb.

Any help is greatly appreciated from your side.

regards,

Hi @yousefdessouki123

Based on the information provided, I understand that you are currently connecting the J-Link to the pin header marked with a purple rectangle in the image. This header is connected to the MK20 microcontroller running the OpenSDA firmware.

To flash the target MCU, you should instead connect the external debugger to the pin header marked with a blue rectangle in the image.
