I'm currently developing using S32 Design Studio V3.5,
and running the example code power_mode_switch_s32k144 on the s32k144-q100-evaluation-board.
The goal is to measure the MCU's current consumption.

I made sure the board was powered with a 12V supply before running the debug_flash_pemicro programming. And It seemly work.

After I configured the S32K144 to VLPS mode

cc_Hsieh_2-1747363465696.png

I removed the 0-ohm resistor at the EVB’s measurement point to perform current measurement (as shown in the image).

cc_Hsieh_1-1747363419315.png

I used an MT-1210 digital multimeter to take the measurements directly.

cc_Hsieh_3-1747363615312.png

At room temperature, after entering VLPS Mode, I measured a current of 417 µA.
This value does not match the data provided in the S32K1xx Data Sheet.

cc_Hsieh_0-1747363280103.png

To achieve the current values stated in the S32K1xx Data Sheet,
what additional configurations or settings do I need ?

Hi@cc_Hsieh

please double check below 5 point and test again.

1.Remove the shorted 0 ohm resistor R117 of the S32K144 EVB and measure again.

2.Slow IRC Stop Enable

Senlent_0-1747375664979.png

3.LPO clock in VLPS mode

Senlent_1-1747375854154.png

4.When using 12V voltage output power supply, SBC-UJA1169 generates 5V voltage to power S32K144. The measured VLPS mode low power consumption current is the lowest. If the S32K144 is powered by OpenSDA's USB instead of 12V to power SBC, an additional 2~3uA current consumption will be added or the S32K144 will enter VLPS mode abnormally, increasing the additional current consumption by more than 150uA. The reason is that on the S32K144 EVB, in order to be compatible with 5V and 3.3V systems, the SPI communication between S32K144 and SBC and the SWD and LPUART I/O connections between S32K144 and OpenSDA control MCU--KL20 all use level conversion chips (Level shifter). If the reference voltage is not provided on one side, it will cause additional current consumption or abnormal state of the connected MCU GPIO.

5.If you use an external debugger, U-Multink/J-LINK debugger, to download and debug the program, and do not remove it when measuring the low power current, it will cause an additional current consumption of about 15uA
