Hello

I am trying to implement Ethernet communication using NXP S32K3X4EVB T-172 Evaluation Board.

1. Could you please tell that which ethernet cable should I use for connection?

2. Also, I am not able to understand how to configure the pins and clock for that and how to proceed with the programming?

3. What tool can be used to analyze the output?

It would be very helpful If I get a reply the soonest.

Thanks and Regards

Kolyani

Hello,

1. Please follow this post - Automotive Ethernet Connector on TJA110x Adapter and S32k3x T172 Dev Board - NXP Community

2. The best choice would be to start with S32K3 lwip example in SW32K3_TCPIP_1.0.4_D2401 . Please navigate yourself through your NXP account to Software & Support / Product List / Automotive SW - S32K3 Standard Software / Automotive SW - S32K3 - Stacks. There is detailed "How to start" in the Release Notes. This link Ethernet (board: S32K3X4EVB-T172) _transceiver TJA1103 - NXP Community might be also useful for you.

3. Wireshark is handy for monitoring ethernet traffic.

Best regards,

Hello

Thanks for responding, but I have some more doubts.

I tried checking with the 2 links you've shared but couldn't understand whether we need external "RDDRONE- T1ADAPT" for media conversion to 100BASE T1 as we already have the socket 2304372-1 : MATEnet Automotive Headers | TE Connectivity inbuilt in the NXP Board.

So, exactly which compatible cable should I use with the socket.

Please help me with these.

thanks,

Kolyani

Hello,

RDDRONE-T1ADAPT is used when your link partner is 100BASE-TX (e.g. your laptop). If your link partner is 100BASE-T1, like the other T172 board, you don't need it.

Regarding automotive ethernet cables, I found this page MATEnet Automotive Ethernet Connectors - TE | Mouser with link to compatible cables Specialised Cables – Mouser Europe. However, I use DIY twisted pair cable for my experiments on my desk.

Best regards,

Hello,

100BASE-T1 is not compatible with 100BASE-TX ethernet in your laptop - please see Gigabit Ethernet - Wikipedia. So, you definitely needs a media converter like RDDRONE-T1ADAPT.

100BASE-T1 requires unshielded single twist pair with max length 15m. I don't have any other recommendation for the cable. As I've already shared, I usually do DIY cables.

Regarding SJA1110's pin strapping, please see chapter 7.11 of Datasheet and Errata Sheet SJA1110 (Sign in is required).

Best regards,
