      <title>Is there voltage protection range information for S32G3-VNP-RDB3 and can that range be adjusted?</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Is there any information on the voltage protection range set for the S32G3-VNP-RDB3/GOLDBOX3 and if it can be adjusted?&amp;nbsp; When trying to test using the device in a running vehicle I noticed that the voltage increase from starting the engine seemed to trigger an over-voltage cutoff on the board that caused it to shutoff until the car was turned off.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I tested the board on a bench top power supply with it starting at an output of 12 V and then gradually increased the output voltage by 0.1 V increments until the board shutoff at around 13.8 V.&amp;nbsp; This seems a bit on the low end for starting a cutoff since generally a vehicles alternator will operate between ~13.5V and&amp;nbsp; ~14.5V (15 V if its starting to go bad).&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I couldn't find any exact documentation on the boards power protection and/or what might be enacting the cutoff at around this specific voltage.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I know that in the schematic the 12 V Input is feeding through some kind of protection circuit that prior to feeding into the VRR5510 PMIC.&amp;nbsp; I think it might be operating as an over-voltage protection cutoff circuit,&amp;nbsp; but I am not that familiar with them or how to determine a cutoff from this.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;span class="lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline" image-alt="voltage_cutoff_circuit.png" style="width: 999px;"&gt;&lt;img src="https://community.nxp.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/338004i07235ED9B87E581D/image-size/large?v=v2&amp;amp;px=999" role="button" title="voltage_cutoff_circuit.png" alt="voltage_cutoff_circuit.png" /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The VRR510 also according to its data sheet seems to have the ability to cut off power with its voltage supervisor&amp;nbsp; in the event of under or over voltage according to section 22.6 of its data sheet.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;span class="lia-inline-image-display-wrapper lia-image-align-inline" image-alt="vr5510_voltage_supervisor.png" style="width: 551px;"&gt;&lt;img src="https://community.nxp.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/338008i01C88AC42A968531/image-dimensions/551x368?v=v2" width="551" height="368" role="button" title="vr5510_voltage_supervisor.png" alt="vr5510_voltage_supervisor.png" /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I the VR5510 also looks configurable over I2C, but its not clear to me how it could be causing the shutoff if its whats causing it.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Any assistance and insight with this Is greatly appreciated it.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;-Chris&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;Apologies for the late reply.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The protection circuit of the S32G3 RDB3 board is mainly implemented to a bad connection of polarity and low voltage.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;As you say, the chapter 22.6 Voltage supervisor of the datasheet of the PMIC specify in which situations the PMIC can cutoff. I suggest you review the&amp;nbsp;&lt;A id="relatedDocsClickPDF_17" class="dtmcustomrulelink" href="https://www.nxp.com/webapp/Download?colCode=AN13182" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-dtmaction="Documentation Section - Results Link Click" data-dtmsubaction="AN13182, VR5510 Device Design Guidelines - NXP - Application Note - English"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;AN13182,&amp;nbsp;&lt;SPAN class="highlight"&gt;VR55&lt;/SPAN&gt;10 Device Design Guidelines&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/A&gt;&amp;nbsp;at the chapter 7 you could see how you can configure the PMIC.&lt;/P&gt;
