NXP S32G3 VNP RDB3 Failure to boot

Dear NXP Support Team,

We have recently purchased the S32G3 VNP-RDB3 board and are encountering an issue during the boot process. After flashing BSP Linux 43.0, which was downloaded from the NXP website, the board fails to boot successfully.

The console repeatedly displays the following messages:

NOTICE: Reset status: Power-On Reset
PANIC at PC : 0x000000000000003f DDR subsystem

We would greatly appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue or any guidance you can provide to help us proceed.

From the log you shared, I have the following suggestions:

1. Not sure if you have other board that could be boot correctly, if yes, use the SD card which could boot other board correctly to test on the board with failure prints.

2. Change another SD card to try booting the board.

3. Use DDR tool from S32DS to check the DDR status of the board.

4. Occasionally there may be some false contact on the SoC. if pushing it on the board, it may boots correctly.

If still issue existed, then the issue may well be caused by hardware issue, you may request a hardware replacement.

As a follow-up, I would like to share that we have another S32G3 VNP-RDB3 board that is functioning correctly. To isolate the issue, we tested the same SD card—originally used in the working board—on the new board that is experiencing the boot issue. Unfortunately, the new board still fails to boot, indicating that the problem is likely New Board

I suggest doing the following tests:

1. Firstly, to check the 4th option I posted in previous reply, to check if there is still issues.

2. If yes, would you mind connecting your new board with S32DS, and to use the DDR tool to validate the board

In order for connecting the board with DDR tools:

Firstly, you may have to change the switches on the board to "serial boot mode"; secondly, connect the UART0 to your PC; thirdly, open the S32DS, create or import a S32G3 project, then enter DDR tools, the necessary operation may be similar to:

Click on the "start Validation" to check the DDR.

I will follow the steps you outlined: switching the board to serial boot mode, connecting UART0 to my PC, and then using S32DS to create or import an S32G3 project before accessing the DDR tools.

There was a validation failure. Please let me know if there are any specific settings or additional considerations I should be aware of during this process.

From the information shared, it is possible that there are hardware issues on your board.

I suggest contacting the distributor where you bought the board directly to have a replacement if possible.

If not available, an alternative way is that to request "Return for Replacement" process from the following link:
