Getting started with Yocto for NXP Goldbox

I am new to NXP Goldbox and I want to run my code (which is already running on a Linux based system) into NXP Goldbox, so as i understand I will have to install the required packages in yocto environment. So, I have a few questions:

1. If i am able to login into the yocto env in root, will it directly get connected to internet if I connect the board to ethernet cable (via router)

2. Can i directly install any libraries in the goldbox through the shell access or is it necessary to install the libraries in yocto.
