In theory, SPI can simulate i2S. But currently, the company does not have an AN on the new MCX A series.

Although SPI can simulate the I2S protocol, this approach may not perform as well as dedicated I2S interfaces, especially in high-speed data transmission and high-precision audio applications.

Hope this will help you.

Since there is a mysterious lack of I2S on the new MCX A series.

I wonder if we could make use of the SPI peripheral to achieve it being an I2S master, i.e. making use of either a timer/trigger or some way of connecting two chained DMA's to toggle a gpio to run the LRCLK/word-sync.

would be super with some guidance on best approach (not knowing the a series features well enough.. yet!)

ran across this article that is covering same idea

https://www.st.com/content/ccc/resource/technical/document/application_note/group0/4a/aa/9f/64/4a/c3/49/57/DM00436604/files/DM00436604.pdf/jcr:content/translations/en.DM00436604.pdf

what would be the smartest way on the A
