How to use SFP with LS1021A?

HI,

We designed our board using LS1021A processor. It is configured for RGMII eTSEC1 and RGMIIeTSEC2 applying the same PHY (AR8033) as LS1021A-IOT. Our PHYs are connected to both types of Ethernet connectors (standard RJ45 and fiber SFP). The Ethernet communication is fine for RJ45 connectors, but we do not have any communication through the SFP connectors.

How should we change the U-boot code or DTS in order to communicate through SFP connectors?

We use the LS1021A-IOT board as the reference board.

Media type selection is purely a function of the PHY. Depending on the

PHY model, this can happen automatically or can be strap or software

configured. Consult at your PHY documentation/manufacturer. If it is

software-configurable for your PHY, the PHY driver may read additional

properties from the Device Tree, however, they are not standard and

fully depend on the driver. Again, the suggestion is to study the

driver code or contact it's maintainer for additional information.

I will ask our hardware engineers.

Following the documentation our PHY should select a SFP automatically.
