topic What is QIXIS? in Layerscape

Hi, I've got LS1028ardb board. As I understand there is a CPLD on this board that acts as a system controller (available through i2c) responsible for e.g. writing some configuration, performing resets, and so on, am I right?

I've checked the u-boot sources as well as the Reference Manual for this board and I've stumbled upon the terms "QIXIS"(u-boot) and "QIXIS Programming model" (manual), but I'm not sure what this exactly is. Is it a kind of standard that defines the communication with CPLD? If so, where can I find some more information about it?

If I wanted to develop a custom SBC based on LS1028ARDB design and include my custom CPLD that would have similar responsibility that the CPLD on LS1028ardb has, would I be able to reuse this "QIXIS Programming model" or perhaps is it strictly connected to the "implementation" of LS1028ardb CPLD?
