GPIO LED support LS1046A

Hi colleagues,

I am trying to enable LED support via GPIO for our board based on LS1046. In the system I have both mpc8xxx (CONFIG_GPIO_MPC8XXX) based GPIOs and I2C based GPIOs. The LED functionality works for the I2C part e.g.
echo heartbeat > /sys/class/leds/x1p/trigger
but for the LS1046 GPIOs
echo heartbeat > /sys/class/leds/run-g/trigger
not

the same is also with

echo 255 > /sys/class/leds/run-g/brightness

attached is the device tree and the kernel configuration file

does anyone have any idea, it looks like the LED support for the qoriq gpio drivers is not working?
