Hi guys,
I tried a demo board DEMO9S08QG8 and propably I burned one part (chip) which is called U305. I cannot find board schematics which including this part. Do you have any suggesting about that?

I have check that pdf but that one is not including USB-BDM part, so is not including U305

Hi,

If this is the large IC in the BDM section then it is just a microcontroller which you can buy. However the firmware inside it is the problem. It is owned by P&E Microcomputer. You probably need to buy another one or buy a USB BDM module seperately.

Peg, actually on my board U305 is small 8-pin package with the marking C6619Z.

It seems somewhat over-sensitive to me, for Freescale not to publish at least a BOM, so as to potentially allow for repair by the experienced user. Especially since Freescale does not make spare parts available. I would guess that most of the IP content is associated with the firmware within the MCU, rather than the identification of the components that are used on the board.

I popped open my USB BDM and it has two 8 pin devices:

a larger one:

MSC

34164

413A

and a smaller one:

C25

4AZ

perhaps this part is some of the extra circuitry to switch the Vcc to the QG to handle the lack of RST problem??? This may also be how/why it failed.

Peg,

The larger device could be a MC34164, a low voltage reset device. This is U301 on the demo board. The other smaller device is U305 is the mystery device.

U305 IC-Switch-Smt (DCT8) SN74LVC2G66DCT, Analog Sw,Bilateral,Dual Digi-Key 296-13271-1-ND

The BOM for this board is included in "DOC-0363-010 REV E" from Axiom, who made the boards. It is called "DEMO9S08QG8_UG.pdf" and is part of the pdf document set on the Axiom Support CD. The problem is that the latest version, Rev F, (on their web site) calls out one revision: "Remove BOM". Apparently, REV E had a very short life, as it is dated Feb 16, 2006. REV F is dated Mar 2, 2006.

Hopefully, there is no violation in posting the part info. I would be happy to upload the REV E doc, but only if Alban sees no problem in doing so.

As the info is distributed by Axiom, I don't see any violation.

Hi Alban,

The problem is that on Axiom's web site, the Rev E doc, which included the BOM, has been replaced with the Rev F doc, which no longer includes the BOM. With all of that said, I have attached the Rev E doc here, with the full understanding that you may find it necessary to remove it if required.
