I've seen where someone has said the number minus the infamous 68HC but with the E suffix is just the RoHS version. If that's the case why not just add the E to an already existing number that has been around for literally decades? When looking up the MC705C8 on a franchise site, the link to the datasheet always brings up the 68HC datasheet.
