I am in the process of migrating from the MCHC11F1CFNE3 microcontroller to the MC68HC11F1CFN3. I would like assistance in understanding the key differences between these two MCUs and any necessary modifications required for a smooth transition. Specifically, I need guidance on hardware and software compatibility, register differences, and any potential issues that might arise during the migration.

Please provide relevant documentation, migration guidelines, or any recommendations to ensure a successful migration process.

Hi,

The original part was the MC68HC11F1CFN3. When the part changed to lead-free, the new family was MCHC11, without the '68'. For easy identification, we added an 'E' to indicate lead-free in many of the legacy Freescale parts.

This is why, if you go to the product page and open the datasheet you can find the MC68HC11F1CFN3 part number.

Best Regards

Pablo

Dear Pablo,

Thank you for your response and clarification regarding the part number differences. However, I am facing an issue where my system works fine with MCHC11F1CFNE3, but when I use MC68HC11F1CFN3, it does not function correctly.

Could you please help me understand why this might be happening? Are there any hardware or software differences that could be causing this issue?

Hi Pablo,

I’m still waiting for your response regarding the compatibility between MC68HC11F1CFN3 and MCHC11F1CFNE3. Please confirm if these two are interchangeable.

Our production is currently on hold due to the unavailability of the MCU.

If MC68HC11F1CFN3 is not compatible with MCHC11F1CFNE3, I will need to proceed with selecting an alternative MCU, as NXP has not been able to provide timely technical support.

Hi,

I apologize for delayed response

Since both MCUs are at end of life or discontinued the information is limited.

We do not recommend the use of part number no RoHC compliance .

I will need to ask you to please contact your distributor for further information on MC68HC11F1CFN3 part.

If you are considering a replacement, just take in consideration that the latest 8 bits MCUs we have had different architecture, this meaning that any replacement will be required HW and SW changes.

In the 8-bit S08 MCU portfolio I can recommend you take a look to the S08PB and S08PL series.
