the MC(08JL is an old HC08 family device, all the HC08 family is not recommended for new design or is obsoleted now, so you will need to move to the S08 family, you will need to develop a new code and a new layout (different pin out) but if you want to keep the soic 28 package please check the following part

Hi NXP!

I am finding a replacement for 8-bit MCU MC908JL3ECDWE since it is not recommended for new design (obsolete). To minimize the effort, we want a drop in replacement for the 28-pins SOIC package and a simple change of code.

Could you please introduce any variant or suitable replacement for it?

If there is no any 28-pins 8-bit MCU replacement, please suggests the most similar part.

Thank you so much.
