I am using the P80C32SBAA, a 16MHz Part. Can't I just drop in the P80C32UBAA, which is a 33MHz part? I believe the 33MHz device is merely a speed grade of the same silicon.

Please advise, anyone?

My client is acutely aware of the need to transition to modern devices. We are at the cusp of end-of-life for this product, whose volumes are large given our frame of reference. New products are constantly emerging in our space.

I think it's reasonable to ask a great company like NXP to tell me whether the 33Mhz device is a drop-in for an application designed around the 16MHz device. Knowing that NXP is willing to answer a little question like this, gives us all confidence in designing-in NXP in current designs.

Please tell me what you can about this.
