Operating System: Windows 7

I am having a microcontroller board from a customer which is using MC9S08DV32

which comes under HSC08 Family. From the firmware code i understood that its

been flashed with security bits enabled. I am having a PE USB Multilink Rev C

hardware for flashing and the software am using is PROGHCS08 Flash Programmer.

Is it possible to flash this controller using the PE USB Multilink and

PROGHCS08 Flash programmer when security bits are enabled. When i am trying to

connect to the hardware the software says cant communicate with target

processor, the previously flashed firmware inside the controller is working

fine. If it is possible to flash with PE USB Multilink and PROGHCS08 Flash

Programmer software please share any documents related to that.

I got feedback from P&E who develops PROGHCS08 programmer:

"The problem may not be security. If a chip is secured and you try to reenter

background mode, the P&E software will ask if you want to unsecure the chip

which erases the flash."

so based on P&E Takao's above reply, I would say PROGHCS08 acts same as Freescale Codewarrior. if the connection problem is caused by chip secure, PROGHCS08 will pop up message box to ask you unsecure flash then connect board. Personally I suggest you check:

0. what's your PROGHCS08 programmer version? if you use old version it may not support 64bit win7. you need update driver or update to latest PROGHCS08 version.

1. what's error message showing up ? please post it here that will help us shoot the trouble.

2. If you connect your board and cable with another 32bit xp PC. The problem is the same?

3. If you use Codewarrior, can you download the code to board?

4 you use USB BDM multilink, Are both of the two leds on?

5. are the power on-off on board on?

all the PROGHCS08 documents are listed on P&E website:

P&E Microcomputer Systems - PROGHCS08 - 68HCS08 Flash/EEPROM Programmer Software - HCS08, Flash/EEPROM Programmer

here is user manual

http://www.pemicro.com/downloads/main_downloads_temp/201503280310012646209/PROGHCS08_User_Manual.pdf

here is help file

http://www.pemicro.com/downloads/download_file.cfm?download_id=38

Have a great day,
Zhang Jun

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: If this post answers your question, please click the Correct Answer button.
