I have a circuit with a SOIC 8 IC marked with the code M9KA2. I think it is a Freescale microcontroller, but I'm not sure.

Could it be MC9RS08KA2?

Part is a MC9S08KA2 in SOIC8

Hope this helps,

--Rafa
