hi, I want to developone application using freescale's zigbee platform. The freescale's zigbee solution consists of RF Tranreceiver chip, MCU and zigbee protocol software. My question is that if the zigbee protocol software is free? if it's not free, how i use the software? how much money I should pay for?

thanks!

Freescale offers 3 software solutions for "Zigbee"

1) SMAC or the EMG SMAC - less then 3K of code, proprietary solution.

Source is made available and free, designed for point to point and simple networks.

The EMG SMAC supports frequency hopping learning remote control systems, and audio over 802.15.4.

Neither the SMAC or EMG SMAC are true Zigbee, they are 802.15.4 based.

2) 802.15.4 compliant MAC.

This solution is not only based on the 802.15.4 spec, but is fully compliant.

This solution is ideal for larger networks, cluster trees, and mesh's.

Freescale provides this solution via software libraries, free.

3) BeeStack

This is a fully ZigBee compliant solution.

This reqires the least amount of software experince, and will get you up and running quickly.

     This solution os NOT free.

All three pieces of software work with the same hardware.

Freescales hardware solutions:

1319x - Multi-chip solution. Radio + micro in 2 seperate parts.

1321x - Single chip solution. Radio and micro in a single part.

If you need anymore info let me know:

eric.gregori@freescale.com

847 651 1971
