Hello and welcome to the fora, AW.

The mask ID is a code that is 1 number, 1 letter, 2 numbers and 1 letter.
The first number is a revision number of the 4 character mask code behind it. Not all revisions are released!

There is usually also another code which is usually 4 letters then 4 numbers.
I don't know what the 4 letters represent but the first two numbers are the last two digits of the year and the last two numbers are the week number within that year.

Freescale seem to like keeping this information all a bit of a secret.

Thank you, Peg.

What you are describing are the normal codings on bigger packages, like TQFP 32 for example.
I already know this codes.

But i have a 9S08QG8CFFE in QFN 16 (5x5 mm Size) lying here in front of me.
There are only 2 lines on this device:

MQ8CE
RHMKC

So i´m still asking me (and you), what is the maskset ID of this device ?

Message Edited by AW on 2008-12-10 01:04 PM

Hello again,

I haven't actually seen any of these very small devices myself but have heard of this before.
This is where Freescale likes to be even more secretive.
Many attempts have been made to find this information out (even by friendly Freescale employees) but nobody was able to let us in on this secret.
