Hello folks!

My book is finally ready and I would like to share the news with you. The final title is: "HCS08 Unleashed: Designer's Guide to the HCS08 Microcontrollers".

It is a mix of a reference book and a hands-on course. Through the 412 pages, many interesting topics are covered, such as: the HCS08 CPU architecture, programmer's model, peripherals,etc.

The first chapters cover the basics of the architecture, the Codewarrior tool and a quick C review (yes, the book is focused on C development).

There are over 70 examples and listings (including some small applications in the last chapter). I hope you like it. The table of contents and the example files can be downloaded at: www.sctec.com.br/hcs08 .

I hope the book is available for purchase in about two weeks (some issues were detected in the proof copy and I had to start the publishing process from the beginning) through Booksurge ( www.booksurge.com ) and later through Amazon ( www.amazon.com ). Congratulations, fabio! I understand what you went through...I published a book on Power Macintosh Programming on how to use the (then new) PowerPC back in 1994. It was a lot of work, talking about the microarchitecture, and then coming up with some code examples that were simple enough to be instructive, yet sophisticated enough to do something practical. Again, great job. I know you're glad that the writing part is over. I hope it becomes a bestseller, or at least the royalty checks are fabulous.

Wow, PowerPC, very cool. Back 1994 ? Even more cool. I have read some texts about the architecture (mostly the PPC604), but I must admit it is light years from me. Today, the most advanced machines I use to program are ARMs (ARM7 and Cortex-M3).

There is an errata document for some errors and smaller issues found in the book.

Right now I would like to thank CompilerGuru for pointing out most of them.

I am looking forward to find new errors (and to hear of them) so that the book gets improved more and more.

Hello Fabio,

I purchased your book a while ago and it is very good & useful.

Thanks for putting the time in to providing such excellent content into one great book.

Now I would very much like to make use of the online content & files but have encountered some problems.

Like mimmo, I am having problems accessing the download files from your site: www.sctec.com.br/hcs08.

Here is the response I am seeing:

I bought your book fabio. Arrived yesterday but so far I haven't had a chance to do anything but flip thru the pages. So far, it looks good and appears to have everything about the S08 all together in one place.

Most examples were designed to run on the DEMO9S08QG8, but there is also examples for the DEMOQE board, DEMO9S08AW60E, M68DEMO908GB60 and DEMO9S08LC60.
