I have some legacy designs that use obsolete 68HC705J2 MCUs. These are
20 pin DIP with 2K ROM in a OTP package. A J1 version is still around but not enough ROM... I'd like to keep the board and kit but need replacements for this MCU. I can't find them anywhere - even considered using an J2 SOIC with package converters but nothing available.

Anyone know of a pin compatible part, or another MCU from that could be substituted?
Worst case, I could rewrite the 05 code and rearrange a daughterboard for another MCU, but that's alot to do.....only minor code changes need for the updates as is..

I have not used this service, but you should at least try it:

http://www.hkinventory.com/public/OfferInventResult.asp

Enter 68HC705J2 into the search box, and you will get hits. There are companies that buy surplus parts.
