Hello,

I'm trying to run ICS08 with QT1 MCU and with http://www.hc08.net/projects/pgmr.html programmer. Everytime, I have status "ROM is accesible" marked as N (so I can't use flash because it is protected). If I ignore the security failure, program seems to communicate with MCU (I can change RAM memory), but it seems to communicate with MCU even if I disconnect RS232 (I can change RAM even in this case).

I try to use P&E 68HC08 programmer. It also connects to MCU with ROM secured. I can load some module to MCU. If I erase it, programmer can now connect to MCU with 8x FF security bytes (ROM unsecured). If I now use ICS08, it can connect to MCU with unsecured ROM (but now ICS08 doesn't ask me to turn off and turn on the supply for MCU and displays "Configuing HC908QTQY device ... ERROR loading simulation monitor"). Again, I can change the data in flash (e.g. addr F800, F801...) with disconnected cable. All memory is again uninitialized if I reconnect to MCU.

I'm newbie, so please be patient with me.

Thanks for any advice.

Hello Gaminn,

What is the name and the version number of the software that you are using?

Please take a screen capture of the connection assistant with all your settings in tact and attach it to this support thread?

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

If you are using P&E ICS interface and are able to 'modify RAM' after RS232 interface is disconnected then
the chances are that you are working in the In Circuit Simulation Mode.

Unless you have access to the .s19 file that is programmed into FLASH or if the device is blank, you have to choose Ignore Security every time you want to connect to the chip.

If you in fact have access to the .s19 file, you should specify it in User security setting and then P&E software will automatically calculate the security code required to gain access to the on chip 908QT1 resources.

Best Regards,
Zahar
P&E

Where do I get these drivers, I can't see it on pemicro.com. There is ICS08 only generally for QT devices. It supports QT1, but there isn't any option QT1A. I can switch only between HC908QT1 and HLC908QT1 with chipmode command. But is there any need to switch it if I want to connect to MCU? I think HC08 devices communicates all by the same way.

I erased whole MCU by "Erase module" in PROG08SZ. I can now as many times as I want connect to MCU with unsecured ROM and load my programs (using PROG08SZ). But when I first try to connect to MCU with ICS08 in circuit simulator, it again tells me that ROM is secured (even I erased my MCU before). Then I am not able to connect to MCU with PROG08SZ...
