    <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Freescale never types out 68 on the markings for the QY, like they do for some other 68HC08 parts.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Why? Because Freescale just love inconsistent chip markings. I don't think there exists a single Freescale chip with a printed partnumber on it, that is 100% corresponding to the documentation in the manual/erratas.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;I was hoping that someone could tell me what the diffrence is between parts marked with MC68CH908.... and MCHC908... are?&amp;nbsp; The parts without the "68" are programmed correctly and the ones with&amp;nbsp;the 68 seem to be all over the place with operation in our assemblies.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hello, and welcome to the forum.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;You have actually placed this post in the wrong forum - the device that you refer is 8-bits.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;When the part was first introduced, the full part number was MC68HC908QY1, with the following suffix letters representing the temperature range and package type.&amp;nbsp; There was also another version, the&amp;nbsp;MC68HLC908QY1 that had some electrical differences.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Sometime later, an enhanced version was introduced, the MC68HC908QY1A (or A-suffix version).&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Then subsequently Freescale dropped the "68HC" within&amp;nbsp;all part numbers, without any other documented changes.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;MC908QY1 is equivalent to MC68HC908QY1&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;MCL908YY1 is equivalent to MC68HLC908QY1&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;MC908QY1A is equivalent to MC68HC908QY1A&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;It is&amp;nbsp;quite likely that code developed for the earlier device will still work on the A-suffix version.&amp;nbsp; However, It is&amp;nbsp;possible that the code developed for the A-suffix version may not work properly on&amp;nbsp;the earlier device, depending on whether any of the&amp;nbsp;modified features are used.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Regards,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Mac&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
