Is there a document that explains clock generation in the MC9S12E128? I am using a 16MHZ Oscillator and am confused about what to expect for the bus clk, pclk, eclk, system clock. The division of the oscillator into the various clocks is what I don't understand.

If you have a 16MHZ oscillator, i.e, it says 16MHZ on the side of the can, is the system osc 16 or 8MHZ?

Thanks,

Eagle Beak

If you do not enable PLL, the Bus clock will be 8MHz. If you enable PLL, then you can take it up to 25MHz or Lower as you desire. You will find the details in Clock & Reset Generators PDF that can be found in the Freescale website pertaining to your processor.

Good Luck
~Sujith
