Hi Manish,

Yes, you may use PMSM software with FOC driving also BLDC motor. According you description, I agree that FOC might be better drive system than simple six step commutation.

The difference between motors is mainly in BEMF shape and this should not have really significant effect.

The MTRCKTSPNZVM128 example code uses two shunts solution.

http://www.nxp.com/products/automotive-products/microcontrollers-and-processors/16-bit-s12-magniv/3-phase-sensorless-pmsm-development-kit-with-s12-magniv-mc9s12zvml128-mcu:MTRCKTSPNZVM128

Unfortunately the application note for one shunt solution is still not public available, however you may ask your sales contact/distributor for early example code if you interest.

I hope it helps you.

Have a great day,
Radek

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: If this post answers your question, please click the Correct Answer button.

Hi,

We are using the S12ZVMC128 MCU and a BLDC 14 Pole motor of various speed/volt.

We are presently using BLDC software with the timing logic for commutation. This is where it looks for BEMF zero crossing and pre calculates the next commutation time.

Would it be better if we used the more advanced PMSM software ?

If not then can we get S12Z software which used the integration approach for commutation rather than the precalculation.

In our application the load changes rapidly. We think the integration approch will serve us better in dealing with the changing load.
