Hi Experts,

imx_3g.png

In the relase notes of the Android Lollipop for IMX boards the 3G modem is pre-tested in mentioned board in the table. Does that mean 3G modem doesn't assured to work in the “i.MX

6SoloLit e EVK”. Also I am not able to find the platform type “i.MX 6Quad/ 6DualLite SABRE-SD” in the freescale site for sale and only “SoloLite EVK” is available. Kindly put the reference link of the “ i.MX 6Quad/ 6DualLite SABRE-SD” platform.

Regards,

Lyf

Hello lyf sci,

The table do shows the Features available and tested on the Android BSP; it does not mean that the 3G won’t work on other processors. The feature refers to the BSP features rather than the i.MX6 Hardware capabilities. You may add a third party 3G module to your i.MX6/i.MX7 design provided that you use one of the available interfaces and add the driver correctly.

That being said, you can find all the information regarding the i.MX6 SABRE SD board on the following link:

http://www.nxp.com/products/microcontrollers-and-processors/arm-processors/i.mx-applications-process...

You may be able to find information on 3G for the i.MX Family on the Communities as well, for example:

https://community.freescale.com/docs/DOC-101389#comment-27768

I hope this information helps.

Hi Gusarambula,

Thanks for the reply.

Which evaluation board (with Android Lollipop 5.1.1) is suitable for the connection of following items with the development boards all at once,

USB Dongle (3G Modem)     - USB Host Connector

WIFI/BT Module                    - SDIO/UART inteface

Debug Port (ADB)                 - UART <-> USB Interface

Display Unit                           - HDMI Interface

Mouse                                   - USB Host Connector

It seems in Solo Lite only one USB host Connector is there in which both Mouse and Modem needs to be connected.

In Dual Lite, there is only one USB OTG port and how the 3G Modem could be connected ?

Hello lyf sci,

The i.MX6Q  has a USB OTG, a USB to UART port for debugging, a SD Card reader and HDMI output.  However, you would need to use a USB Hub on the USB OTG connector to also add a Mouse and 3G Dongle (just keep in mind how this may affect performance), but I would suggest checking the Fact Sheet since it would be the closest match:
