Hi Divya,

Is your splash screen custom image or default boot up logo ??

Can you please provide the kernel logs from start ?

in your kernel logs which you will provide me please marks when your screen appears, when screen becomes blank.

Just add line approximately above or below when you examine your kernel logs.

May be some configuration set and it was slowed due to it, I am not sure about it, but may be conclusion will come after your logs.

Regards

Hello Divya,

Thanks for providing the logs..

but you provide 2 boot-up the logs in one :smileysad: create confusion,

but anyhow I find some lines and issues which are may be possible reasons.

At the same time if you provide your boot arguments then it easy to conclude, so please provide your complete boot arguments.

Some lines in your the logs I write it below,

You just find it out in the logs which you provided me.

The main reason why it happen it due to HDMI on fb1 and you ON the fb2 (I don't know you use of it or not but if not use then OFF unnecessary)

My suggestions to you that if you not use HDMI and LDB-XGA on fb2 then OFF that.

1.

Kernel command line: setenv bootargs ${bootargs} console=ttymxc1,115200 ip=none root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootwait video=mxcfb0:dev=adv739x,BT656-NTSC,if=BT656,fbpix=RGB565 video=mxcfb1:dev=hdmi,1280x720M@60,if=RGB24 video=mxcfb2:dev=ldb,LDB-XGA,if=RGB24,bpp=24,fbpix=BGR32 ldb=dul0 video=mxcfb3:off consoleblank=0

--> here problem it with your arguments and also HDMI.

just try it out some below arguments in U-boot and revert back with result. (don't save any argument, just see the result by real time changes in u-boot at the time of every restart.

If you not use HDMI and LDB-XGA then,

setenv bootargs ${bootargs} console=ttymxc1,115200 consoleblank=0 ip=none root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootwait video=mxcfb0:dev=adv739x,BT656-NTSC,if=BT656,fbpix=RGB565 video=mxcfb1:off video=mxcfb2:off

setenv bootargs ${bootargs} console=ttymxc1,115200 consoleblank=0 ip=none root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootwait video=mxcfb0:dev=adv739x,BT656-NTSC,if=BT656,fbpix=BGR32 video=mxcfb1:off video=mxcfb2:off

not sure about below :smileyconfused:

setenv bootargs ${bootargs} console=ttymxc1,115200 consoleblank=0 ip=none root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootwait video=mxcfb0:dev=adv739x,BT656-NTSC,if=BT656,fbpix=RGB565 video=mxcfb1:dev=hdmi,1280x720M@60,if=RGB24,bpp=32 video=mxcfb2:off

2.

mxc_hdmi mxc_hdmi: Read EDID again

--> here due to your arguments it goes to HDMI connection and try to search/read EDID,

so because of this at that time your display gone black and LCD screens disappears.

3.

Kernel command line: console=ttymxc1,115200 rdinit=/linuxrc enable_wait_mode=off

I also found above line in the logs which would be incorrect, I think.

(You provide U-boot's arguments then after it will give some idea till its not clear)

enable_wait_mode=off is to let user has an options of turning off WAIT mode feature, such as when you suspect that some modules' performance are impacted by WAIT mode, then you can try to disable WAIT mode.

you can find more details about this here.... https://community.freescale.com/thread/307222

4. found 3 lines related to fb.0 which are in sequence as below

1.     mxc_sdc_fb mxc_sdc_fb.0: register mxc display driver adv739x

------------

2.     mxc_sdc_fb mxc_sdc_fb.0: register mxc display driver adv739x

-----------

3.     mxc_sdc_fb mxc_sdc_fb.0: NO mxc display driver found!

I don't know why these display twice may be it due to you provide me 2 boot up logs.

If you provide me 2 boot ups logs then 1st is correct in 1st log , 2nd is also correct in 2nd log but what about 3rd ??:smileyplain:

Its a problem here, it not found fb.0 after 2nd, its also a one of reason.

5.     This point no more important anyway I put it here.

fbcvt: 1920x1080@60: CVT Name - 2.073M9

Console: switching to colour frame buffer device 240x67

mxc_sdc_fb mxc_sdc_fb.3: register mxc display driver ldb

imx-sdma imx-sdma: loaded firmware 1.1

imx-sdma imx-sdma: initialized

mxc_hdmi mxc_hdmi: Read EDID again

mxc_hdmi mxc_hdmi: No modes read from edid

mxc_hdmi mxc_hdmi: create default modelist

fbcvt: 1920x1080@60: CVT Name - 2.073M9

Found above lines in end of log(2nd boot up log) which are corrects but in start of log(1st boot log) I also found as below..

mxc_hdmi mxc_hdmi: No modes read from edid

mxc_hdmi mxc_hdmi: create default modelist

fbcvt: 1280x720@60: CVT Name - .921M9

May these points helps you.

At the same time possible then please provide me U-boot's argument and try some arguments without saving in U-boot as per I described in point 1. :smileyhappy:

Inform me about your outputs and results.

Hope this will work.

Thanks and Regards

Hi Jaymin,

Thank you for the findings.

The boot arguments we used was "setenv bootargs ${bootargs} console=ttymxc1,115200 ip=none root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootwait video=mxcfb0:dev=adv739x,BT656-NTSC,if=BT656,fbpix=RGB565 video=mxcfb1:dev=hdmi,1280x720M@60,if=RGB24 video=mxcfb2:dev=ldb,LDB-XGA,if=RGB24,bpp=24,fbpix=BGR32 ldb=dul0 video=mxcfb3:off consoleblank=0"

We tried with the above boot arguments but it didn't solve the issue. We are using lcd display.

when we tried the below arg, the kernel splash screen was loaded after a delay of 5 sec and stayed for 18 sec.But the application crashes. Kindly help..

"setenv bootargs ${bootargs} console=ttymxc1,115200 ip=none root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootwait video=mxcfb0:dev=ldb,LDB-XGA,if=RGB24,bpp=24,fbpix=BGR32 ldb=dul0 video=mxcfb1:dev=hdmi,1280x720M@60,if=RGB24 video=mxcfb2:off video=mxcfb3:off consoleblank=0".

Hi Divya,

Were you able to solve this?

Which BSP version are you using? Can you share the steps to reproduce the same in one of our boards?

Hello Divya,

try to use below arguments and let me know your result and observation whatever it is.

setenv bootargs ${bootargs} console=ttymxc1,115200 consoleblank=0 ip=none root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootwait video=mxcfb0:dev=adv739x,BT656-NTSC,if=BT656,fbpix=RGB565 video=mxcfb1:off video=mxcfb2:off video=mxcfb3:off

setenv bootargs ${bootargs} console=ttymxc1,115200 consoleblank=0 ip=none root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootwait video=mxcfb0:dev=adv739x,BT656-NTSC,if=BT656,fbpix=RGB565 video=mxcfb1:off video=mxcfb2:off

NOTE : do it for test purpose,

Also please tell me in details that actually what things are doing at what timing ? (at proper time, what is displaying ?)

Hi Jaimin,

Any updates on how to load the kernel splash screen once the u-boot splash screen is loaded.

Thanks ,

Hi Jaymin,

We tried with the above bootargs but nothing is displaying in lcd.Not showing boot loader and kernel splash screen. We tried to optimize the kernel by disabling the drivers. But the delay in loading kernel splash screen reduced to 16sec only from 18sec.

Also kindly help to optimize the kernel boot time of ltib.

Thanks,

Divya
