A serious problem of I.mx8 with Ubuntu?

Hello:

Recently I bought a Nitrogen8M SBC with i.mx8m cpu from Boundary Devices, and I installed the ubuntu 18.04.2 system as this website shows  https://boundarydevices.com/ubuntu-bionic-18-04-lts-for-nitrogen8m-board-june-2019-kernel-4-14-x/

However, after I installed this system, I found the backend of this Ubuntu 18.04 is Weston/Wayland just as the picture shows in this website. But it is totally different from the ubuntu system I used before, and I found I can only do things by typing command lines in terminnal, and I cannot even find the File System. We want to use this SBC to install code::blocks and Opencv and sometimes we need to show the pictures taken by the USB camera to debug, so this Ubuntu with Weston/Wayland cannot satisfy our demands. The Cpu of this SBC is Arm A53, I learned that it's different from x86 cpu, so installing ubuntu on i.mx8 is different from installing ubuntu on our personal computer.

To be honest, I learned this product which can be installed with ubuntu just from this community, so I decided to buy this SBC but I didn't realize that I cannot use this.

I'm really depressed, and I wonder if anyone can help me with this, to install annother kind of backend of Ubuntu such as Gnome or Unity on this Nitrogen 8M SBC, it's really important to me!

   Thank you very very much!

Best wished!

Hi

issue with nitrogen boards may be posted on boundary devices wiki:https://boundarydevices.com/wiki-bd/

Also may be helpful below links:

https://developer.solid-run.com/knowledge-base/i-mx8m-debian/

Yocto with a package manager (ex: apt-get)

Best regards
igor

Hello :

I'sorry that I cannot solve this problem yet, I tried to install unity by myself but it didn't work. So I had to install code::blocks on weston/wayland.

And I tried to open codeblocks on terminal but it told me "No ptotocol specified" just like this picture shows, I really cannot figure out how to solve ths problem.Hope you can help me.

Thank you very much!pastedImage_1.jpg
