Hi ,

We are designing an IMX6 solo based target board  and looking for storage device which we can use for keeping uboot ,  kernel and rootfs. We found that eMMC is an appropriate option for us. Just would like to know ,  What are the changes need to be done in the Mfgtool  to flash the eMMC card. Is there any unseen challenge in flashing the eMMC card.

We will not be having any other boot option except eMMC card in my design. So please let us know if there is any challenge in flashing the eMMC card using MFGtool.

Regards,

Aditya Nagal

Here you are steps to burn eMMC:

1. Place the images into mfgtools\Profiles\Linux\OS Firmware directory structure.
2. Update cfg.ini file with setting eMMC to burn
3. Set download mode with boot mode switches on the board
4. Connect the board to PC
5. Run MfgTool2.exe
6. Power the board, wait for MfgTool to detected the board and press "Start" button to dowload.
7. Set eMMC boot mode with the switches on the board
8. Make sute that the board boots up

Have a great day,
Victor

Victor,

Could you please provide details further to your post above.

  1. What are the image files needed to flash in the eMMC to burn?
  2. Configuration to update in cfg.ini file. Maybe a sample file which can be used to flash eMMC present in iMX8 MQ EVK or any other board.
  3. What is the boot switch configuration used for flashing and booting?
  4. MFGTool2.exe - where to download from? I downloaded from this link: https://community.nxp.com/docs/DOC-340805 - Is there any new version?

Best regards

Achyut
