How to protect MKV5x firmware from reading out by a third party?

I thought I should be able to set a flag during firmware downloading to make the code not readable (using J-Link or other tools). But I can not find any documentation on how to do it.

I am using MCUXpresso.

Can someone help?

Best regards,

Shelby

Hi Mark and Erich,

Thank you so much for your answers. They are very helpful! I tried it on an old MKV4x board and it worked very well!

Best regards,

Shelby

Hi Shelby,

in addition to the link Mark has provided:

Preventing Reverse Engineering: Enabling Flash Security | MCU on Eclipse

In prinziple the microcontroller has some bits to prevent read-out of the flash. You have to consult the reference manual for it as this might be a bit different from one to the other.

I hope this helps,

Erich
