Rules as attached. Please take note on the changes of track and scoring criteria.
Hi, may I know that it is the edge lane track will be using this year?
The center lane track used last year will no using at all?
Yes. We will use edge lane track this year Malaysia, same as the global compeition this year.
So it is confirm that there will be no continuous black line (25mm/1inch) at the center of the track, only at both edge of the track? Referring to Rules (Section 9: NO 5).
Can additional lenses be attach to the line scan camera?
Yes. You can add lenses.
Hi, thanks for the reply. How about the tournament floor color? Will it be same as the track color that is white, or will it be in other color such as "Yellow" as in previous competition 2013? If it is in other color than white, what is the clearance measurement between the outer "edge track" to the" colored floor"?.
Track color is remain as it is. Please refer to below comment from Jesslyn Lim which has answer for your question.
Amendment on section 9.5 -
Surface of the racing track is matte white, with a continuous black line (25mm/1in wide) on each edge of
iii. the DC-DC boost circuit may not exceed battery voltage.
referring to the rules, if our camera supply voltage is 12V, then its not allowed to be used?
You are correct. The supply cannot exceed the battery rated voltage which is 7.2V.
Hi, is there any tunnel on track for this year?
Yes. Final round will have tunnel as one of the track difficulties. However, given the tracking method change from single line to edge tracking, we may re-visit the obstacle/track difficulties during event day. We encourage all participant to prepare well.
After discussed with our global team, we have decided not to have any tunnel this year for the Malaysia compeition as well as the global competition.
due to there will be no tunnel, will the height limit of the car change? for camera placement purpose. Can the camera be placed higher than 12 inch ?
The limit of height still remain unchanged. It can not be higher than 12 inch.
Additional information on the qualification to join the Global Freescale Cup:
Qualification to join the Global Freescale Cup at Seoul, Korea will be the top 2 teams with the highest score in completion time and design. Scoring criteria for the TOP 3 teams and Design remain unchanged.
Thanks for the info, can your party confirm the track (edge black line to edge black line) the width is 30cm or 60 Cm? Because the starting point is 60cm but the intersection, straight path,s curve are 30cm
according to the site, NXP Cup Race Track Details
which was provided in the rule book, the tracks are all 2 feet wide including the edges thickness.
please correct me if i'm wrong
owh ok, thanks tham, looked wrongly on the dimension, from the site it is confirm 2 feet.
We have few questions to ask regarding the changes in scoring system:
We are actually quite confused with the scoring criteria because at Section 8.6, it mentions that
"6. Top three teams will be scored Completion time for the race."
Will that actually mean that fastest car with no appearance design might not be qualified for Global Freescale Cup? Because in Global Freescale Cup rules,
the judging is solely based on the completion time alone. Even in EMEA and USA, the winners are determined from the lap time.
In our opinion, it will not be fair to change the scoring criteria just a week before the competition. We believe most teams will try their best to tune the cars to achieve the best completion time as it was the sole criteria published beforehand.
Thank you very much and we look forward for your answers to clear our doubts.
We are working on to show the lap time this year. If not, the emcee will announce the time. Cover for your car for the apprearance can be removed during the run.
We will like to take into consideration on the car design especially on the design creativity (hardware and software) to select the best teams to participate in the Global compeition. Best completion time wiill remain as the sole criteria for the top three winners teams and major criteria on the selection of the teams to participate in the Global competition.
competition is on the 24th, is it possible to come by mmu on the 22nd and 23rd for simple testing since we cannot bring our test track with us.
Jesslyn Lim noted.
Hey tham, im thinking about the same. would be great if MMU robotic club or any representative from mmu can lend us their test track before the event day! Just for environment adjustment.
