eXtreme Switch capabilities in Automotive applications

This demo presents latest hardware development tools for NXP eXtreme switch devices. Those smart & self- protected  high-side switches are the latest achievement in DC motors and lighting drivers for automotive (12V), truck (24V) and industrial markets. We are introducing here:


  • The new eXtreme Switch Freedom board compatible with Arduino, Kinetis, Raspberry Pie & Riot boards in a Lighting motion control demo where the eXtreme Switch controls and drives 4 different LED lights. LEDs brightness is adjusted depending on the position of the PCB thanks to the accelerometer of the freedom KL25Z board.
  • An automotive lighting reference design board
  • 36V eXtreme Switch tower board
  • 36V Extreme Switches digital IO board compatible with Arduino, KL25Z, Riot & Raspberry Pie



eXtreme Switch devices belong to an expanding family designed to control, protect and diagnose various types of loads, with enhanced precision. With on-resistance ranging from 2 mOhms to 50 mOhms and channel number from single to penta, those products combine flexibility through daisy chainable SPI, extended digital and analog feedbacks for safe and robust designs

Presented boards will allow customers to drive easily all type of loads (resistive, inductive and capacitive) in very efficient time. Thanks to those new hardware NXP is enlarging its eXtreme Switch panel of hardware solutions with easy to use systems and customer friendly tools, ideal for Automotive Lighting, motor applications and Industrial applications
