Small cells are a key part of heterogenous network (HetNet) which complement macro cells coverage. Their goal is to bring local coverage with high data rate like in office areas or shopping malls for mobile users. This demo presents two examples of small cell RF head which:

  • Shapes and amplifies user information from baseband unit to be propagated thanks to the antenna towards user mobiles
  • Receives user mobiles signals to be fed to baseband unit and to the phone network

Thanks to an excellent collaboration, Benetel and AW2S loaned us these RF heads to showcase NXP RF Power products into end application equipment.


Demo / product features

  • Benetel small cell RF head is a 9 liters 2x2 MIMO 2W per antenna working in band 3 (1805-1880MHz downlink)
  • AW2S small cell RF head is a 2.5 liters 2x2 MIMO 500mW per antenna working in band 40 (2300-2400MHz downlink)
