The Disney MagicBand is a secure access and payment wearable provided to all Disney World guests who stay at one of the Disney owned resorts during their visit.  The band includes:


MIFARE DESFire contactless interface for hotel room access and in-park payment and personalized services.


Active 2.4GHz wireless interface for medium range location based services such as exhibit interaction and automatic photograph triggering.


Value Propositions

MIFARE is NXP’s well-known brand for a wide range of contactless IC products with a typical read/write distance of 10 cm (4 inch)

Worldwide largest installed base with more than 50 million MIFARE reader core components sold, and more than 5 billion contactless and dual interface ICs sold 

Selectable cryptographic methods include 2KTDES, 3KTDES and AES128

     o Provides secure identification to Disney guests to access personalized services.

     o The only form of identification needed to enter Disney World and access all of the services and experiences offered.

     o No need to bring a wallet as the MagicBand uniquely and securely identifies each guest and also acts as a mobile payment solution.

     o Enables Disney to provide a personalized experience for guests from simple payment, to exhibit / guest interaction, to VIP service

Fully compliant with ISO/IEC 14443A (part 1-4), and uses optional ISO/IEC 7816-4 commands

QN902x Cortex-M0 very low power consumption with Integrated DC-DC and LDO featuring 2 μA deep sleep mode in a 5x5 QFN32 package

     o Enables Disney to design long lasting device in a very small form factor (small battery)

     o Offers Disney improved visitor congestion management and tracking.  This results in real time operational improvements and improved metrics for long term planning.
