The NXP Internet of Things (IoT) Gateway is an essential component for connecting everyday wireless-enabled devices to the wired internet so they can be controlled and monitored. The powerful ARM9-based host controller runs an OpenWRT Linux operating system, providing an easy-to-use platform for system development. The software is modular, allowing for easy customization, including changes to the application software. This small, compact implementation of an Ethernet gateway, designed for low-power wireless networks, is based on IEEE 802.15.4 standards, so it’s compatible with ZigBee and JenNet-IP.


There is a four port USB hub that can handle interfaces for other communication protocols such as 802.15.4, Thread, ZigBee and BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy). The IoT Gateway also features Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports for wired connectivity support. There is a DVID-D display port and an HDMI port so the device does not have to be used as a headless unit. The combination of i.MX6 and Kinetis KW2x SoC is a perfect solution for creating Thread enabled smart connected devices and border routers running Linux and various advanced applications, including packet filtering, advanced security and various data analytics algorithms. The AirSync5 technology from Proximetry offers a fully-integrated management platform designed for Thread and other mesh networks that deliver scalable and secure, exception-based device management tuned for today’s innovative, new embedded computing solutions.
