and_bp.jpgBlood-pressure monitors help make precise diagnoses of patients who suffer from hypertension by implementing techniques such as oscillometric methods and Korotkoff's measurements. These devices measure mean arterial pressure (MAP) and use algorithms to derive systolic and diastolic values, then display readings on an LCD screen. Typical blood pressure monitors are driven by a low-power, 8-bit or 32-bit microcontroller (MCU) and incorporate a pressure sensor in either an arm or wrist cuff.
