Cost Optimization:

Audio demo using MK60 and SOMNIUM® DRT Kinetis Edition

The Audio Demo uses the TWR_K60N512 board containing a MK60N512VMD100. It uses the eGUI graphical LCD driver to demonstrate use of GUI widgets on a small scale system.

The base demo was downloaded from DOC-101484 as a Kinetis Design Studio (KDS) project. It was then imported into SOMNIUM® DRT, Kinetis Edition and rebuilt to demonstrate the codesize reductions possible via DRT's patented resequencing optimization technology.

The results demonstrate the practical impact of DRT's benefits – codesize is reduced by 13% such that the entire ROM requirement is less than 64KBytes. This would allow the demonstration to use a lower end Kinetis device with no more than 64KByte flash – typically this style of MK30 devices retail for around 16% less than 128KByte devices.

The combination of DRT's automatic resequencing optimizations and the wide range of Kinetis devices provide real practical benefits, reducing time to market, and reducing design and manufacturing costs for IoT designs.
