What this Demo is All About
It’s about time doors to home and office properties manage themselves! Volansys Technologies has developed an innovative prototype entrance security solution for homes & offices. Amalgamating the robust expertise of agencies like NXP, Unikey, Surepass, Proximity and the integration mastery of Volansys’s engineering team itself, the company has come up with an application that can help home and office owners control the opening and closing of doors even when they are miles away.
The engineering team at Volansys was primarily responsible for developing the Android application, the Gateway software and the Bridge software. The Android application stresses a lot of importance on user authentication, so that security can, by no chance, be compromised. For the said purpose, FIDO library has been put to extensive use. The authentication spans a 2-layer system, wherein, one layer use the concept of "what you have" i.e. physical possession of the phone/FOB and the other uses the concept of "what you know" i.e. the password or fingerprints/biometrics, which is exclusively known by the user.
The gateway Software comprises 2 different applications running on utilite imx6 platform – the CGI handler and the Proxy server. While the CGI handler is responsible for all the HTTP GET/POST request/response to access door lock, the proxy server is responsible for FIDO authentication using FIDO server library.
The Bridge application utilizes Kinetis K60 microcontroller. It is the communication hub between ProxyServer (running on gateway) and lock application. Apart from contributing wholly to these 3 components, the Volansys team has also played an important part in integrating components belonging to the other agencies to make a complete workable solution for the Freescale Technology Forum 2015.
